Add-ons

Each price is where that job starts for a straightforward version of it, and you get a firm number before anything begins. They are one-off: you buy the thing once and it is yours, with no monthly fee riding on top — which is usually where this kind of work turns out to be expensive elsewhere. Two labels below, and they claim different things. live means go and use it in a demo on the Styles page this minute. built means the code is written and tested and has run before — but the demo walks you through the flow rather than running it, so that one you are taking on my word rather than trying yourself. Anything that takes a card payment also needs a payment processor; those fees are theirs, not mine, and I will tell you what they come to.

What the site does

  • Online bookings or appointments — yours outright, rather than a booking subscription every month for as long as you use it builtfrom $600
  • An online shop and checkout — with no monthly platform fee, which is what a shop usually costs on top of building it builtfrom $900
  • Taking a deposit — hold a booking with a part-payment, without running a whole shop builtfrom $400
  • Content you change yourself — menus, timetables and listings, without ringing me builtfrom $400 a section
  • Search and filtering — for anyone with more than a handful of things to show livefrom $300
  • Photo galleries that work properly on a phone livefrom $300
  • Photo uploads on your enquiry form — let people send a picture of the problem and save yourself a tripfrom $300
  • Gift vouchers — the Christmas trade you currently turn awayfrom $500

Getting found

  • A page for each suburb you serve — the single biggest thing you can do for local searchfrom $150 a suburb
  • Collecting and showing your reviews — after a Google Business Profile, the next lever worth pullingfrom $300
  • Knowing what is working — plain visitor numbers, no Google, no tracking, nothing following anyone aroundincluded

Getting set up

  • Email on your own domain — so you are not quoting jobs from a Gmail addressfrom $120
  • Moving your existing site across — from Wix, Squarespace or WordPress, without losing your search rankingfrom $400
  • Writing the words with you — most people have them in their head, not on a pagefrom $400
  • Sorting out photographs — the thing that most often holds a build upfrom $300
  • Extra pages beyond your packagefrom $250 a page

Once it is live

Neither of these is compulsory.

  • Hosting and upkeep — $49/month. I keep it online, backed up and current, and make small changes as they come up — up to half an hour a month, which covers most of what people actually ask for.
  • Or host it yourself. The site is yours. I will hand it over and help you move it, at no charge.
  • Bespoke work — $95/hour. Anything beyond a package. You get a total before I start, not an open tab — the rate is there so you can check the sums, not so the bill can grow.

04

Common questions.

  • How long does it take?

A one-pager is usually a week. Bigger builds run two to three. The slow part is almost never the building — it is waiting on photos and words, so the more you have ready, the faster it goes.

  • What do you need from me?

A conversation about what your business does and who it is for. Photos if you have them. Whatever words you have already written, however rough. If you have none of that, we will work it out together — that is part of the job, not an extra.

  • Who owns the site?

You do. The domain is registered in your name, the site is yours, and if you ever want to take it elsewhere I will help you move it and not charge you for the privilege.

  • What if I want to change something later?

Small changes are included for the first month. After that they are covered by the $49/month upkeep — half an hour a month of changes, and anything larger quoted first — or quoted as a one-off if you would rather not have a monthly cost.

  • Do I have to host with you?

No. $49/month covers hosting and upkeep if you want it handled. If you would rather run it yourself, the hosting these sites use is free for a business this size, and I will set you up on it.

  • I heard you were doing free builds?

Sapling & Kernel started with a handful of free builds for businesses I believed in. That was the starting phase, not a standing offer — everything now is paid work at the prices above.
